How to Make Black Sesame Matcha Latte

We have a feeling you’ll like this recipe a latte 😉 This Black Sesame Matcha Latte, finished with delightfully springy glutinous rice ball boba, is our take on a popular Chinese dessert, 黑芝麻湯圓 - black sesame glutinous rice ball!

 Main Ingredients

Black Sesame -   Usually they're stuffed into the glutinous rice balls, but we're making it easy for ya!

Glutinous Rice Flour - For the "boba"

 

 Here's what you'll need:

Ground Black Sesame (1/4 cup)
Milk (1 TBSP)
Honey (1 TBSP)
Glutinous Rice Flour (1/4 cup)
Water (1 TBSP)
Brown Sugar (1/4 cup)
1 Ginger (sliced)
Milk (1 cup)
Ice
Junbi matcha powder (1tsp)
Water (2 oz)

Serves 1
 

Here's how to make Black Sesame Matcha Latte:

STEP 1: PREPARE THE BLACK SESAME

Mix the black sesame with a bit of milk and honey until it is a thick paste.

STEP 2: MAKE THE GLUTINOUS RICE BALL BOBA

Add a little water at a time to the glutinous rice flour until it is a dough-like texture. Then roll it into boba sized balls. Meanwhile, prepare the matcha shot by whisking 1 tsp of Junbi matcha powder to 2 oz of water, set aside.

STEP 3: COOK THE BOBA

Slice some ginger and add it to a pot with brown sugar and water. Let the boba simmer until cooked through. When it is ready, it will rises to the top.

STEP 4: ASSEMBLE!

Spread Black Sesame mixture onto the sides of a cup or glass. Then add your glutinous rice balls along with some of the ginger syrup. Add some ice, milk of choice, and mix! Then top off with your matcha shot.
